Who it fits
Good fit for
You should consider this desk if you need a dedicated workspace with built-in file management. The wide surface accommodates larger monitor setups. The hanging file drawer is ideal for those who keep physical documents organized. If you have a desktop computer tower, the enclosed shelf keeps it off the floor and out of sight. The fixed height works well for users who do not need to adjust their desk position throughout the day. The rustic finish suits traditional or farmhouse-style decor.
Who should skip it
Skip this option if you require an adjustable height mechanism. This desk has a fixed 29.5-inch height, so you cannot switch between sitting and standing positions. It is also not suitable if you need a compact footprint under 59 inches wide. The weight of 133 pounds makes it difficult to move frequently. If you prefer a minimalist aesthetic without visible hardware or drawers, the wrought iron accents and storage compartments may not match your style preferences.
Verdict: The Sauder Carson Forge 59 is a sturdy, storage-rich desk for users who prefer a fixed height and traditional design. It offers practical organization for documents and computer hardware.

Before you buy this desk
This desk is a fixed-height unit, so you must ensure your chair and monitor setup match its 29.5-inch surface. It does not adjust for sitting or standing. You will need to verify your keyboard tray fits under the drawers. The lower drawer holds letter or legal hanging files, which requires standard file folders. Check that your CPU tower fits behind the door with the adjustable shelf. The desk weighs 133 pounds, so you need space to maneuver it during assembly. Keep the wood finish clean with a dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals to preserve the Washington Cherry look. This option suits those who prefer a traditional, stationary workspace. It contrasts with adjustable models in our 1 product guide by offering dedicated storage instead of height flexibility. If you need to change your posture frequently, consider a different type. This unit is best for static workstations where organization is a priority. Ensure your room has enough clearance for the drawer slides to open fully.
Check before you buy
- Verify your chair height matches the 29.5-inch surface.
- Confirm your CPU tower fits behind the storage door.
- Ensure your room has space for full drawer extension.
